The Empress is an 'Onna Bugeisha', a type of female warrior belonging to the Japanese Nobility.  Many women engaged in battle, commonly alongside samurai men.  One such woman, later known as Empress Jingū, used her skill to inspire economic and social change.

This is an original oil painting. The painting is done by using a palette knife so there is quite a bit of texture to the painting which I've tried to show in a few of the close up photos. The size of this painting is 120cm x 100cm x 4cm.
